EP 535: Elan Zelenka – Becoming a Sexually Liberated Woman

What is your story? How did you get to where you’re at today?

I was going into a career in nursing. I realized I wanted to help people on a broader and more holistic scale. I was an only child growing up in a conservative Christian home. I didn’t learn good communication skills. Conflict wasn’t handled well. My family didn’t talk about important things like sex. I figured it out on my own. I didn’t have freedom to explore, as my parents micromanaged me. It felt constrictive.

As I got older, I became more aware of what it looked like to live a liberated life. A few years ago, I was in a romantic relationship with someone who rocked my world, and I saw the ways I could increase intimacy. And I naturally found myself moving towards becoming a coach in sexual liveration and self expression.

How do you define a sexually liberated woman?

She is someone who is able to express her needs, desires and boundaries without shame. She can incorporate all of her past and alchemize her emotions into personal power. She lives life according to what feels good to her gut.

How can a woman become more sexually liberated?

  1. Cultivate a felt sense of safety from within. Ground your energy so you have the courage to express yourself in this way.
  2. Learn the communication skills to communicate well and feel safe to express yourself.
  3. Explore yourself, your body, and cultivate a deeper sense of intimacy with yourself first.

How do you maintain your freedom while being in a relationship?

There’s the you, me, and we components in a relationship. We often enter into a relationship and all you want to do is spend time with a new partner. You can become enmeshed. You want to be accepted by them, and you can easily change who you are for them to like you. Be aware of your patterns, when you have given away your power. It doesn’t benefit anyone.

It’s important to take a step back and return to your energy, the ME, your individual path. Your partner should also maintain their path. Maintain your sense of freedom both as individuals and as partners.

What are your final words of advice for anyone who wants to go on their last first date?

Open the invitation for both parties to start from the beginning in full expression. This is who I am. If we don’t work, that’s okay. Be open about what your intention is. Allow yourself to not hide or hold secrets.
