Fresh Date Ideas to Spark a New & Lasting Relationship
When you’re out there in the dating world, you may feel like every other day you have the same plans with a different person. Dinner dates, grabbing a drink or even seeing a movie are basic first dates that can sometimes seem more like an interview than a fun time to get to know someone new.
Kick it up a notch and make your date fun and memorable! There are so many activities out there that are perfect for couples and will help you get to know someone in a more organic way without the conversation feeling forced.
Below are four alternative date ideas that can make sparks fly and help you eventually go on your last first date.
1. Go Dancing
When it comes to dance, the possibilities are endless. From different experience levels and dance genres, there’s something for everyone. If you’ve never danced before, there are beginning classes that can teach you how to get back into the swing of things. If you want more of a romantic date, try ballroom dance. For a workout, try an upbeat dance genre like Zumba or hip hop.
Dance gets you moving together and it’s almost guaranteed that you’ll both get some good laughs in at the same time. Plus, after learning new moves, you’ll be able to hit the dance floor with your date.
2. Go on a Segway Tour
Segway tours are all the rage. Typically held in groups, these tours go through scenic parts of the city you want to get to know. Hosted in a ton of metropolitan areas, you’ll be able to find a tour near you. Enjoy the weather, the outdoors and get up close and personal with a ton of different sites. Plus, you don’t need to be athletic to take a Segway tour, which makes it a good way to get outside and be active without the risk of injury.
You might even pass by a restaurant, park or cool new place for your next date.
If you’re both into the outdoors, plan a hike together. There are many great places to hike in nature. One of my favorites is Rails to Trails. All over the US, there are old railroad tracks that have been converted to hiking trails. They are usually in gorgeous locations, where the view is lovely, and there are plenty of people on the paths so you don’t have to worry about being alone with your date before you feel ready.
Doing something together that makes a difference not only brings you closer together, it helps the community at the same time. Sign up for a few hours to volunteer at your local botanical garden, park or community center. If you’re interested in art, volunteer at the art museum. If you both like kids, there are plenty of places where you can read books to young children or help pack healthy lunches.
Whatever activity you choose, a fun volunteer opportunity will break the ice and make your time together more meaningful.
