Lisa Erickson is an energy worker specializing in women’s energetics and sexual trauma healing. She’s the author of Chakra Empowerment for Women. Lisa helps women maximize and balance their energy during key life transits such as pregnancy, post-partum, perimenopause and menopause.

She also works with women to heal from abuse and assault. Lisa is certified in a variety of energy healing modalities and is a practitioner with The Breathe Network, a non-profit dedicated to supporting holistic healing for sexual trauma survivors. Lisa is passionate about helping women connect with their feminine energy.

What is ‘Women’s Energetics’?

This is work that connects us with our bodies. I work with the chakras and help women work with chakras directly. In women’s energetics, we focus on how women’s bodies function differently from men, especially during our life transits.

Based on the differences between men’s and women’s energetics, how do you recommend a woman work with her energy body, particularly her chakras?

Women need to focus on boundaries. Which emotions are sourced from self and which are sourced from others. There’s conditioning that’s different for boys and girls. Girls are conditioned to take responsibility for other people’s emotions.

There are 7 key chakras that link to different parts of our body. They each have colors. The lower chakras are key for women: The root chakra is in our tail bone, and the second lower one is in our belly/navel.

Focus on those two energy centers and imagine a second skin around your body. That’s an energy skin that bounces the emotions off of you. It reprograms your way of being in the world. Do it once in the morning and once later in the day for 6 weeks, and it will create lasting change. Also, implement a meditation practice.

How does a women’s energy body change during perimenopause and menopause?

In their 40s, women have surges in their second chakra energy body. Our 40s are a great opportunity to lean in to past trauma and relationships in which we weren’t happy. If we do that, we have a rebirth from our physical body to our energy body and spiritual power.

You also work energetically with trauma survivors. How does trauma impact our energy body?

One of the patterns is disassociating with the lower chakra, especially with sexual trauma. That disconnects us from forming boundaries. It also compromises our immune system. I help people reconnect with the lower chakras. They reconnect to body and emotions.

People have different coping mechanisms. Some have a block to vulnerability and trust. It’s exhausting. They often break down from exhaustion. They may have achieved a lot, but they’re an island. I work with them on flow and interdependence with themselves and with others.

How does working energetically help us in relationships?

We are exchanging energy with people all the time. Everything has a vibration. You can’t love someone until you love yourself. The heart chakra is the center of our chakra system. Shifting the relationship to yourself shifts your relationship to others.

Work on opening your heart chakra and flood yourself with love. That’s going to shift how you relate to others. Place your hand on your heart and feel the warmth there. Visualize someone you have great affection for in an uncomplicated way. You’ll feel warmth. That’s the heart chakra. Focus on that daily. It will send energy through your body.
