Oprah Contest: What I Want to Grow in My Life
I entered an Oprah contest this month. The grand prize was a trip to Hawaii to meet Oprah. Dining with Oprah over a freshly harvested salad in her Hawaiian home is right up there on my bucket list. How amazing to have a private audience with this inspiring woman. Here were the rules: ‘In the spirit of our June 2013 issue’s theme—growth—we want to know: What would you like to grow in your life and why? It could be anything—a friendship, a business, even a particular talent. Fill in your answer here (150 words or less, please), and don’t forget to include a photo of yourself. Good luck!’ It was challenging to capture a life mission in 150 words or less, but I gave it a shot.
Oprah Contest: What I want to grow in my life
I want to grow healthier relationships in women over 40. I want to teach more women how to identify narcissists, sociopaths, and soul-sucking men, so they can stop dating and marrying them. I want them to practice self-respect and dignity, so they don’t allow anyone to treat them poorly. I want them to love and appreciate themselves so they can’t help but attract the love that is their birthright. I am a divorced single mom and a dating coach. After my divorce, I set out to truly understand love and relationships. I learned that love is an inside job. It begins with cherishing yourself. You must learn to process and let go of anger and resentment, set clear boundaries, take responsibility for all that you say and do, and communicate compassionately. Only then can you become openhearted enough to be the love you wish to attract in the world.
What do you think of my entry? Even if I don’t win (but hey, you never know), I’m happy I had the courage to sit down and do this exercise. It helped me get clarity about my mission in life.
You don’t have to enter an Oprah contest to identify your life passion. What do you want to grow in your life? Please share your thoughts below.
