I get this question a lot: “He’s moving too fast, and I don’t know what to do! How can I slow him down without turning him off?” If you’ve ever dated a guy whose pace was faster than yours, you’re not alone. In this video, you’ll learn 5 steps to take if a man is moving way faster than you.
What to Do if He’s Moving Too Fast
If a man is asking you to be exclusive after two dates, or telling you you’re the ‘one’ after date three, do this:
- Start with the end in mind. Know your dating/relationship goals and your standards before you date. Discover whether he has the same goals as you get to know him.
- Be careful of love bombing. Big red flag! If he’s too complimentary at the beginning, be skeptical. Words mean nothing without action.
- Don’t plan for a future before there’s a present. Take one date at a time, and don’t project into the future.
- Discuss how you feel about the importance of going slow. Don’t be afraid to speak up, and let him know your boundary around slowing down to get to know a man.
- If he doesn’t respect your boundaries, it’s time to move on. There are always more guys out there. A boundary pusher is telling you his needs are more important than yours. Next!
